The Trail

Nearest Town with Accommodations:
Dardanelle

Location: On Hwy. 7 south in Dardanelle, turn right onto Hwy. 22 west, then left on Hwy. 155 south up the mountain. Watch for a gazebo on your right. Park at the Gazebo, take in the sights and then head down the trail located to the right of the gazebo.

Type: Double track / loop.

Distance: About 4 miles.

Summary: This is a nice quaint little trail with some interesting history. The trail starts out at the gazebo and does an entire loop around the mountain. The trail is pretty flat and wide, there is not really anything to get in your way unless a tree has fallen across the trail. There are really no big climbs here or technical stuff but there are some really great views of the river valley. There is one section on the north side that has an old swimming hole where way back when folks would flock to the resort that was on the mountain and come down and swim in the hole, I would advise not swimming in it now though.

Recommended Route: Start at the gazebo and ride counter clockwise.

Rating: This would be a great choice to bring that novice rider too. It would also be good if your trying to get a friend or spouse into mountain biking. They will enjoy the views and the laid back ride that this trail offers. More advanced riders my find the trail a little boring unless you are just wanting to get out for a little nature ride. If the trail does not offer you enough of a physical challenge, then ride your bike from the bottom of the mountain, up to the trail, do a few laps and enjoy the downhill. Mount Nebo has some of the steepest climbs on the road going up, so that I am sure you will get a good workout.
