Nearest Accommodations: Houston

Location: From Houston take I-10 going west for about 30 minutes.Take exit number 723 and go north on FM 1458 for about 2 miles. You will go through a small town called San Felipe. Watch for Park Rd. 38 and turn left. Follow 38 for about a half of mile to the park entrance. There are plenty of signs pointing the way so you should not get lost.

Type: Single and double track / loops

Distance: About 6 miles doing all loops

Summary: This trail is flat so if you are looking for climbs then you probably will not enjoy this trail. There are a few little hills on the trail but most I would think could be negotiated by a novice rider. The cardio scale on this trail is going to be very low. The technical scale as well will be very low, there are very few places on this trail that will require much in the handling department. If you are looking for a trail to take the whole family, looking to get in a pleasure ride, or if you are just getting into the sport then this would be an idea trail to go do. This trail would also make a good trail to just go out and really do some speed work on, as it is so flat, has very few obstacles and has a pretty good flow to it, not to mention it did not seem to be all that busy. I did notice that the trail holds water and by the looks of it would not be very good when wet. We came across a couple of sections that were still under water and looked like it might be a little while before they dried up, so we did what any good mountain biker should do we turned around and went back the way we came. Don't ride these trails when they are wet or muddy, we could see where the trail in places was already widening because people were going around the mud holes, not to mention how much damage it does to the trail, plus you might just get yelled at if you are caught out there riding the trail when it is muddy.

Recommended Route: We started by the amphitheater and went down the Pileated trail and then just took every thing in a counter clockwise route.

When to ride: Anytime of the year is great except after a rainfall. Don't even think about ridding here if there has just been a rain in the area.

Rating: I would rate this trail for any experience level.
