Type: Mostly logging road / Loops.
Distance: About 10 miles doing all loops.
Summary: This trail is made up almost entirely of old logging roads with some occasional single track mixed in. There are two loops out there, the outermost trail being the most roughest. The roads that make up this trail are pretty rough in places with rocks the size of a fist or bigger littered all over the road. There is a lot of creek crossings some of which can be a real pain to cross especially if there has been some rainfall in the area. There are a few sustained and steep climbs along the roads so come prepared to do a little cardio work. Last time I was out there the trail and roads were in really bad shape. A lot of erosion had taken place leaving rutts and exposing even more large rocks. There were a lot of trees down across the trail which only makes me believe that this trail gets very little attention if any at all. One good thing is if you are looking for a place to be alone this is it, by the looks of it this trail gets very little traffic. The only thing technical about this trail is all the big rocks and the creek crossings. There are however some really scenic areas out there to behold the Ouachita Mountains. Some of the downhills are exhilerating to say the least. This trail is in such a really nice area that it is a shame that it has been neglected so, they could make a really sweet trail out here if they would just spend a little time on it. If Wildcat Mountain Trail does not offer you enough of a ride then you can head down Forest Road 179 going south and take it to Lake Sylvia.
Recommended Route: Counter clockwise or clockwise either way you go your going to have to do some climbing.
Rating: If you are into riding on old logging roads or just want a good quick challenge then this trail might do. If you like single track with good flow then you will not like this trail. I would not bring a novice rider to this trail. Advanced beginners, intermediates and advanced riders will do ok out there. Overall I would not drive out there just to ride this trail, if you are in the area check out Burns Park or Camp Robinson before heading out to this trail.
